My Review:
The story starts out strong. The workshop at Conquerer, in the beginning, was so well written, captivating, and witty that I knew this was a book I wouldn’t be able to put down. The only character who seemed out of place was James. I really would want to know what his story was and why he was acting like such a petulant child.
I absolutely adored both Henry and Libby (and so many of the other characters). Henry has such a massive family and each of the family members has their own unique personality. I would love to read a prequel about his parents because they were such a riot! Henry is the sweetest and he gets flustered by Libby so easily. Libby goes the extra marathon for others and is forever seeing the good in people. It’s easy to see why they fall in love with each other because I fell head over heels in love with them! I especially love how different Henry and Libby are even though they match perfectly to one another.
Fake dating is such a fun romantic trope and this book does it so well. The author is masterful at both the slow build and the spicy parts. I was surprised by the amount of Jane Austin references. It’s been so long since I read any of those types of books, but the references were integrated smoothly and explained just enough to add an additional element to the story.
There are so many good lessons to learn from Libby and Henry’s story. I’ll try to remember to ‘yes, and’ more from now on.
I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
