My Review:
If you like an excellent slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance, then you’ll enjoy this paranormal demon fantasy take on these romantic tropes. Both the male protagonist and the female protagonists were well-written, clever, and determined. Devon, though human, is able to take on demons. I’m not sure how she is capable of challenging and surviving fights with demons, though it may have something to do with the fact that she’s a demon hunter from a family of demon hunters.
This book feels like a sci-fi-esque take on a fantasy world where demons have different abilities and there are those in the world creating serums and weapons from those magical abilities. I really enjoyed the author’s unique take on paranormal fantasy. As someone who generally is not interested in urban fantasy and demons, I enjoyed this book from the first chapter through to the last. It is a page-turning, romantic thrill ride full of fighting and escape, torture, and revenge.
The story is far from over though the ending of this first book had its own satisfying finish. I can’t wait to read more in The Survival Chronicles series.
