The basil plant takes sun and continuous water to grow and prosper. It yields plenty of leaves for use. It can be used in salads, a stir-fry, sandwiches, and more.

Foodie Fridays: Thai Tea
One of my favorite drinks is Thai Tea. It’s creamy and has that solid tea taste while being a creamsicle orange. I decided to buy my own brew and save myself some dollhairs by making it myself. Alas I got a splitting headache every time I drank it. There are very few ingredients in the Thai tea mix (pictured in the Ziploc bag) and I have a feeling that it is the coloring (horror!) that is giving me such a negative reaction. The headache is so bad that I will never drink this stuff again. Additionally, I am against coloring. It is unnecessary in food production and harmful to the body.
Anybody know of a good Thai tea mix without food coloring??
Foodie Fridays: A Few of My Favorite Things
The nostalgia accompanies the crispy croissant-esque deliciousness. These were popular before those itsy bitsy pizza rolls. I am very disappointed if they are out of them or are done cooking them for the day. Pizza sticks and half-size shopping carts fill my memories, along with airport quality Chinese food and fruit leather. Relive your childhood (or mine) with these wonderful $0.99 treats.
Foodie Fridays: Costco Dilemma
Here are some others who are addicted to Costco….
http://costcocuisine.blogspot.com/
I think I have found a compromise, prepper foods from Costco and all other foods from the local Maple Valley Market and Foley’s. Not sure about my hygiene products…. Does the Market have the shampoo I like? To be continued….
Foodie Fridays: Texture says it all
How do you like your food?
FYI: On average, people lose half their taste receptors by time they turn 20
Holy cow! No wonder so many people who say they didn’t like broccoli growing up now don’t mind it.
Foodie Fridays: Foley’s Produce
I love Foley’s! They improve the neighborhood immensely and I’m very thankful for the opportunity to buy from a local vendor who sells local produce with that local feel of your neighborhood market. Their produce is amazing in and of itself and they have screaming good deals on several things all the time (Granny smith apples $0.79/lb). They may be a small stand in the midst of a plethora of big box grocers but they have quite the variety, supplying organic options among the regular options, even providing such goods as homemade bread, eggs, honey, and jams. Foley even grows and sells some of his own plants. I highly recommend Foley’s and will be back again and again.
Foodie Fridays: Food Porn
Wikipedia defines food porn as: “a glamourised spectacular visual presentation of cooking or eating in advertisements, infomercials, cooking shows or other visual media,[1] foods boasting a high fat and calorie content,[2] exotic dishes that arouse a desire to eat or the glorification of food as a substitute for sex.[3] Food porn often takes the form of food photography and styling that presents food provocatively, in a similar way to glamour photography or pornographic photography.”
Food porn for the masses rose out of websites such as instagram and facebook.
Anti-food porn now exists in the form of tickld members (and other websites) where the activity of photographing and informing friends, family, and strangers about your meals is laughed at and is a shameful practice.
There are many reasons why someone you know may have posted food porn.
What can you do about food porn addiction?
Foodie Fridays: Sweet Potato Flops
I gave out some of my sweet potato chips to my dad and his response was that they were soft, unlike chips, and so should be called ‘flops’
I used this recipe to make my flops, only using olive oil and sea salt.
